Protecting Businesses. Supporting Surf Life Saving.

A shared commitment to supporting safer, more resilient communities has been at the heart of Aon’s partnership with Surf Life Saving New Zealand for over two years. As an extension of our commitment to this incredible organisation, we’ve introduced a simple way for businesses across New Zealand to support Surf Life Saving, while accessing trusted risk advice and solutions from Aon.

When a referred business appoints Aon, we’ll give 15% of our fee back to a nominated Surf Life Saving club or to Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

We’re creating practical impact in two important ways:

  • 1. We’re helping to provide ongoing funding for local Surf Life Saving clubs and for Surf Life Saving New Zealand, to support patrols, training and the services that help keep communities safer on our beaches.

  • 2. We’ll provide trusted advice and solutions across insurance, risk and people from Aon, helping to protect and grow businesses of all sizes.

By connecting businesses with Aon and creating vital funding for lifesaving services, we’re turning Better Decisions into meaningful community outcomes.

Aon New Zealand CEO Melissa Cantell said the programme reflected Aon's commitment to supporting the organisations and communities that make a difference across New Zealand.

"Surf Life Saving clubs play a vital role in communities throughout New Zealand, and we are proud to partner with Surf Life Saving New Zealand on a programme that helps create additional support for those clubs.

Through the Aon Club Referral Scheme, we're able to provide businesses and individuals with access to Aon's insurance and risk expertise while also delivering a tangible benefit back to the clubs that work tirelessly to keep New Zealanders safe around the water.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative can have for clubs and the communities they serve."

2025/26 season of impact

The 2025/26 summer underscores just how much ongoing support matters, with SLSNZ lifeguards saving 726 people from drowning on New Zealand beaches and assisting a further 887 people to safety before the situation turned critical. Behind each of these numbers is a moment where training, clear thinking and confident decision-making helped prevent tragedy.

At Aon, our role is to help organisations understand and manage risk so they can make informed decisions to protect their operations, assets and people. Much like the lifeguards on our beaches, we focus on anticipating risk, preparing for change and building resilience, for businesses and for the communities we operate in.

As businesses continue to navigate changing risks and make decisions that shape their future, our commitment to providing ongoing funding offers a practical way to turn these decisions into community impact. By choosing Aon or referring a business, you can help support the people and clubs working to keep New Zealanders safer on our beaches, while accessing advice designed to help protect your business.
